Throwback Wedding Two: St. Paul Capitol & Marjorie McNeely Conservatory Winter Wedding

….

These two toured the town: St. Paul’s capitol building, Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park, and Heartland Restaurant (since closed) in Lowertown, St. Paul. Their intimate, winter wedding happened a while back.

I’ve made a decision to dig through my archives and share more of my work.

There is SO much power in a decision. A favorite teacher of mine, Esther Hicks, mentions in her channelings from Abraham (stay with me here if this is too woo-woo for you) that hemming and hawing over a decision gets you nowhere. It causes you to exist in a state of split energy. It’s like treading water: it takes a TON of your precious energy but you don’t really get anywhere.

I’m am the queen of hemming and hawing. My heart might know exactly what it wants but my damn logical brain gets in the way and starts weighing every single option or consequence. By the time I’m done doing that, I tend to be so overwhelmed that I abandon the idea all together.

Sound familiar?

Sometimes these decisions are BIG. Like deciding to end a marriage. Sometimes they’re as seemingly trivial as: what should I blog about? Will they like it? Am I being authentic? Vulnerable?

Ugh. So. Dramatic.

Something happened this fall that made me realize I’ve worked really effing hard to build my photography portfolio. It might’ve been an epiphany during meditation, a dream, or a book I read. Regardless, it was clear in that moment that I was doing myself a disservice by hiding–literally on a hard drive in a fireproof safe–all of my work.

The reason I create, like most creatives I’m guessing, is because I’m compelled to create.

I have to pick up the guitar and sing the song, even if no one ever hears it but my dog. I have to edit the photos I snapped on that last road trip, or produce that podcast and enjoy all the feels that come from hearing other people’s real stories.

I’m also a teacher, mentor, coach…whatever word you’d like to use. I feel like I’m turning my back on that privilege and responsibility to those who invest time (and money) in learning from me by not sharing what I’m actually doing more often.

Sorry, this got a little long.

On that note, this wedding was stunning. So intimate, relaxed and warm. I hope the images carry some of those feelings from there to you.
