Summit Manor Wedding Photography
In St. Paul, Minnesota there is a massive stretch of Victorian era homes on Summit Avenue–like Summit Manor–that sometimes serve as gorgeous wedding venues, especially for sunny, summer weddings. The lawns are green and massive oak trees dot the landscape offering shade to guests and completing a picture perfect wedding setting.
There are many versions these days of picture perfect, it’s one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer in a new era of renovated warehouses and handmade centerpieces. There’s a relaxed energy from so many of my clients that I’ve fallen in love with when I’m shooting. This energy brings everyone to a comfortable space where personalities really shine through in every photograph and people don’t feel stilted or tense in front of my camera.
Alicia and Rob’s mid-July wedding at Summit Manor was a wedding photographer’s dream. The weather was hot, but I’d take that over rain, wind, or storms any day. The sunshine streamed through Summit Manor’s leaded glass windows and brightened up the dark wood features inside the venue. After a major team effort to attach flower arrangements to the arbor, everyone at this wedding was relaxed, high spirited, and hilarious.
I enjoyed Alicia and Rob’s humor so much. Not only did we make some silly and special photos, but shared a few laughs, too. If you’ve worked with me before, then you know how much I enjoy laid back, sarcastic banter on the job. In life and work, I strive to be in high energy space as much as possible.
I think the intimacy of venues like this bring people together in a totally different way than larger spaces. Since Summit Manor was someone’s home, that homey feel pervades the event and people settle down for cozy chats and, at dance time, fill the living room dance floor until it’s crowded and hopping.
