On a blustery Minnesota evening I joined guitar player and vocalist Molly Dean at the retro-cool Brewhouse Recording Studio in Minneapolis. To help with the evening’s task Molly invited her immensely talented new band: Shannon Frid Rubin (violin) and Dan Zamzow (cello) of Cloud Cult, Nicholas Gaudette (bass), and Paul Jennings (percussion). With the gracious and talented Rob Genadek behind the controls the group spun out some amazing tunes in just a few takes.
When I stepped into the studio I was instantly drawn to stacks of old amps and classic keyboards. It was a killer space to spend some solid time taking photographs and it sounded amazing, too. We even managed to catch a beautiful snowfall and grab a few portraits before we froze. But that’s to be expected in Minnesota.
