Music tours and shows filled my calendar in 2012. Thanks to some fantastic opportunities here in America, as well as Canada and Europe, I was able to create a hefty photo collection. The final stop on my 2012 music-centered work took place relatively close to home in Chicago for Scotland’s Celtic Connections. Traditionally the music festival is held in Glasgow, Scotland each January, but this was a new added twist that brought together both North American & European talent for a weekend of shows, including one at the world famous Ryder Cup.
Documenting the festivities, BBC Alba filmed interviews and performances from the festival and have recently released a completed documentary highlighting the uniqueness of the locale. It’s accessible in the UK, but unless you’re tech savvy (and tricky) it isn’t available to stream in America. The festival and documentary featured performances from Karen Matheson, Session A9, RURA (with Paul Jennings filling in stateside), Admiral Fallow, Kathleen MacInnes, John Doyle, Julie Fowlis and more. It was a fantastic collection of talent & tunes.
