I’m back in Hawaiʻi after nearly eleven years away. Eleven. Sheesh.
I moved to this beautiful state when I was eighteen years old. I attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and stuck around for a few more years after graduation. Along with a smattering of English-y subjects, I studied Hawaiian language and found that, despite loving many things about my native Minnesota, this distant, magical place felt like a second home.
It’s an understatement, but it’s good to be back.
I joined Momi and her trio of beautiful kiddos in Hilo, HI not long after my arrival. It’s in moments like the ones I captured below where I am enamored with my job. A stunning setting, gorgeous light, and four smiling, playful spirits made this an instant favorite.
Incidentally, I’ve decided to hang around for a while.
