Earlier this week I attended a virtual town hall event hosted by Rachel Rodgers on YouTube. As of this writing, you should be able to view the replay here. If you’re running a small business, I highly recommend that you check it out.
The aim of the Town Hall was to reimagine small businesses moving forward from this pivotal point in history.
“Anti-racist: those who speak and act in ways that advance racial equity in society; the act of interrupting racism.”
Those of us open to learning, growing, and doing better are asking: what can I do moving forward to show up? How can I do the work to become a better ally?
In addition to providing actionable and useful information from panelists at the town hall, viewers were asked to participate in signing a pledge. This pledge outlines 5 actionable steps to implement, refine, and commit to as a small business dedicated to embodying anti-racism.
Jennings Photo and Photo Business Help, as of this writing, are solopreneur operations. Meaning, I do not employ staff or oversee regular employees. I’m explaining this to add context regarding the pledge I signed this week as some of the work involves education for my staff or team. In those cases, I’m intending to do my own learning, listening and work.
This is a lifelong journey. I’m looking at how I’ve shown up, messed up, and how to improve. I hope to update this post with specifics regarding financial contributions and other items.
